Probably a simple question but it has me stumped. I Run a network using the sg-3100 and I am adding a sg-5100 to a client site next week. I wanted to connect the new 5100 to my network so I could update the software and load the config, etc. Trouble is, I can't seem to get internet working on the 5100. I tried connecting the wan port to my existing Aruba switch (which is connected to the LAN port on the 3100) and selecting dhcp and/or setting a static but there is no route to the internet. What am I doing wrong, should it be connected to the LAN on the 5100 instead and routed via a static route?

If you're connecting the WAN on the 5100 to (essentially) the LAN of the 3100 then its WAN should get (or be given) an address in the LAN subnet of the 3100. Then the computer you're testing with gets plugged into the LAN side of the 5100.

IOW one can daisy chain routers just fine as long as they all have correct (unique) subnets.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

@steveits It's getting an address, just no internet. No pings to outside but I can ping 3100 gateway...

@myriad Never mind. After resetting the unit to factory it now works. Go figure.

Yeah subnet conflict is most likely there. If the both have the same LAN subnet the 5100 would end up with the same subnet on WAN and LAN creating a conflict.
