there has been some hold up in their original schedule
yeah i think so too, and true about the 3rd party software i forget to mention the blog
but lets wait and see what comes around next

There was this mention that yeah they are running a bit behind
But still hoping to have it by end of the year.

pfSense Plus (rather than a paid CE) will be available for 3rd party hardware. We need to get all the required back end pieces in place and tested first and that's taking longer than we initially hoped as Dennis said in that other thread.

oh nice ... edit: oh no something went wrong in translation ... sorry my fault ...
- pfSense plus on netgate hardware
- pfSense plus on 3rd party hardware
- pfsense CE in a free (for private and homeLab) on netgate or 3rd party hardware
- edit:
pfsense CE with a paid model on netgate or 3rd party hardware
will be interesting when this plan (licensing and money) finally all comes together
untill then keep on using and pushing this product !

I don't get it :(
Will then pfSense Plus will be a paid CE ?
I am for one, would like to have a low cost "paid CE" so I can help this project.
Why did you say "pfSense Plus (rather than a paid CE)" ? What will be the difference?

you should simply read up on the Netgate Blog about pfsense plus - that will answer most questions. There will not be a paid CE. Stephen literally said that :)

"no good deed goes unpunished..."
All I wanted to help the project :)
I will consider donating to the FreeBSD Foundation

I wasn't going to chide or punish you for that :) Just wanted to clarify for others reading that topic as a paid/closed source version is quite a difficult topic for many. So paid + CE version in one sentence is ... kind of a hot topic :)

That will surely be appreciated by them :) But I'm not related to Netgate so don't know if there's another way to donate.
Cheers :)

if there's another way to donate.
Buy netgate hardware.. Get a support contract (even if you don't use)..
I would think getting netgate hardware is the best way to be honest, win win for everyone.. You and the project.

I guess you’re right that’s a good option
For some reason the topic “CE paid version” is sensitive
I personally don’t see a big deal to sell an extra icon on the top banner “pfSense subscriber” for a nominal annual subscription fee (say $100) and still keep free version as well.
Thank you all for replies !

you should simply read up on the Netgate Blog about pfsense plus - that will answer most questions.
Activate the RSS widget on the dashboard.
You won't miss the important messages any more (that is, you'll see them when you visit the pfSense dashboard).

Always an option. pfSense wouldn't exist as it is without FreeBSD.
