Why the CF version won't setup a default IP?.It's not really a good idea when you need to reload a complete system and you need a serial cable just to setup an IP on your firewall. Why not set the first Interface LAN with 192.168.1.1 by default.

Up until now, every CF image I downloaded and wrote to the card already had exactly the mentioned IP set as default on the first interface (sis0), which was configured as LAN, sis1 configured as WAN. :) So would you mind to tell us which version and which image your are relaying on? ???

What system is this on?  Both WRAP and Soekris platforms work fine.  For non-sis(4) chipset machines, I can see this being a complaint - but how hard is it to use a serial cable anyway?  It's SOP for working on machines with a serial console, just like video and keyboard are SOP for non-serial based platforms.

Btw, I prefer a serial cable over a monitor and kayboard. It's cheaper  ;)

Confirmed here on both Soekris platforms (4801/4501).

I can only agree to that. And it needs less space ;)
