SG-1100 unresponsive
-
Hi,
My SG-1100 with pfSense got unresponsive overnight. It is 16 months old so just a bit over its warranty so I am posting here.
The power on light is working (3rd light). And the first light is blinking sometimes, sometimes it is on and than it goes off etc. So it is doing something. But the LAN port does not get assigned an IP address any more so it is not possible to connect via the Ethernet port. I've tried connecting to the USB port but that is also not working any more. So I am out of options now.I've opened the device and I noticed three dip switches. Would anybody know if I can reset anything with these? Or does anybody have another solution?
Thanks and best regards,
Guido

When you say USB port I assume you mean the console port, and there is no serial comm port available to allow Putty connection?
I'd also check your external power supply -
@gil Yes indeed the serial communications port. Good point, the power supply. I'll check that and post my findings.

If the first LED is blinking that means it is booting past uboot and pfSense is starting to boot.
If it's cycling between blinking and not blinking it's probably rebooting and at that point in the boot process that's probably stuck in a boot-loop because of a filesystem error.
You should see something on the console. How is it failing when you try to connect to it?
Have you successfully accessed the serial console on that device before?Steve

@stephenw10 I fixed it! Apparently most of my USB cables did not connect properly but I finally got one that was able to connect. I indeed had to fix the file system with fsck. Thanks!

Ah, good to hear.
