DNS Forwarder (dnsmasq?): Safe to 'import' /etc/hosts from another dnsmasq instance?

If I paste the old hosts file from another dnsmasq system, would it be safe here, or is this rebuilt/rewritten from data elsewhere on reboot/upgrade?

Look at the date and time of that file.
pfSense regenates (overwrites) it as soon as DNS related setting changes.When you use pfSense, you use the GUI to change or add settings.
What's in your host file that you can't enter somewhere in the GUI ?
Btw IMHO : : dnsmasq, the forwarder, still exists for compatibility reasons and will probably be relomed in the future. Suggestion : use unbound instead.

Indeed. Not long after I initially posted I found the file to be rebuilt with just the pfSense host in it.
Looks like the best way is to add DNS Host Overrides. Only about 50 entries, so just need a little patience.
Thanks for the advice on dnsmasq. Will look into unbound, too.
