SG-4860 64 Bit Version?
-
Hi,
I am sorry to ask such a "stupid" question but:
We bought a SG-4860 last year in june, and I am new to our organistaion. The SG-4860 is in an remote location and I can't just go there and do it myself. And our external tech support is arguing with my about the following: The Webinterface is showing i386 and also uname -m shows i386. But our external techguy is arguing that this isn't neccessary a sign of a 32 Bit versionĀ :o
Because I didn't bought the hardware and have never seen it, i want to make sure that it is a 64-Bit hardware. If so i am going to overrule him by "Do as we tell you"
THX

SG-4860 is a 64bit capable Atom D2558 with AES-NI and Intel Quick Assist.
As 64bit is suggested almost everywhere where it's supported (except some corner cases which i doubt the SG-4860 is) this looks wrong.
Try the pfsense support. If you bought from them i am sure they can help.

That device is capable of running 64-bit, if the system info on the dashboard and the uname show i386, you're running a 32-bit install. It should show amd64 there. It should be reloaded with a 64-bit installation image, which you can download from the portal if you have registered the device. If you need help, contact our support and we can help you get it straightened out.

SG-4860 is a 64bit capable Atom D2558 with AES-NI and Intel Quick Assist.
If this will be a original SG-4860 from the pfSense or Netgate Store it is a real 64BitĀ hardware.
And if this is a real SG-4860 it is based on an Intel Atom C2x58 SoC and a custom pfSense image
should be installed on it, that is available after creating an account in the pfSense store and registering
that unit likes @jimp was mentioned before. In former days many admins where thinking of installing a 32Bit version to get out more "bang" using
the 64Bit hardware, because the need and use of the real 64Bit image is more then the 32Bit! But this
days should be over for now and in the future.
