I have an Intel I350 as the NIC for Pfsense. Could someone outline the steps for updating  / flashing the card with the latest firmware. I have USB ports on the Pfsense box. Could I flash the card from a USB key. Any help will be appreciated.

You'll need to boot into UEFI shell, assuming the PC has a UEFI bios. Get ALT Linux Rescue(x86_64), Intel Ethernet Adapters Connections CD, and rufus.

Write the ALT Linux Rescue ISO file to a USB drive using rufus. Extract from the intel zip, APPS\BootUtil\EFIx64*BOOTUTIL64E.EFI* & APPS\BootUtil*BootIMG.FLB* to the root of the USB drive. At the ALT Linux Rescue boot screen, select efi shell. At the command line,

        fs0:
        BOOTUTIL64E.EFI
        BOOTUTIL64E.EFI -ALL -FLASHENABLE

        reboot (ctrl-alt-del)

        BOOTUTIL64E.EFI -UP=PXE -ALL -FILE=BOOTIMG.FLB

        Drive fs0 may vary.

Thanks for this information. It's just what I have been looking for to check out the firmware.
