      Hi All

After running the update via the webconfigurator my pfsense did not respond, I tried ssh again it did not respond. So I dug out the cosole cable and using PUTTY on /dev/ttyUSB0 speed 115200 it does not connect (dmesg shows the cabled pluged in)

why has a simple upgrade bricked by appliance? now im stuck without internet on the LAN!!

is there any way to fix this, I also tried the reset switch and opening and removing the battery but that had no effect

Connect from the USB port to your PC with a regular USB cable. Figure out which COM port is installed (the SG has a USB to serial converter) and connect to that /dev. /dev/ttyUSB0 is incorrect. The speed is either 9600 or 115200. I forget which.

On my system it is /dev/ttyUSB0 and 115200 but your system may have assigned a different one, there usually are only ttyUSB entries for devices you have  added so trying all is easy enough.

Did you do the reset using this method?  https://vimeo.com/143197016

              Mine was /dev/ttyS0 …

I didn't reset, my file system was corrupted so I reloaded using the Netgate ADI image.

                Thanks for the really suggestions,

I tried the reset like in the video it does nothing, I tried another cable but it did not work, eventually I installed screen and used that instead of putty and managed to connect, so I can confirm the device is not 'bricked'

                So the

problem is that while booting it gets stuck at the point:

Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/ufsid/55411d03bf874893 [rw]...
WARNING: / was not properly dismounted
WARNING: /: TRIM flag on fs but disk does not support TRIM

This is a warning not an error and I would expect the boot process to continue but it does not…

So I found an old image I had from when I first got the device of netgate pfsense 2.2.2 wrote that to a usb and reinstalled the firmware now it seems to be up and running i just need to reconfigure it and hoe for the best...

                Thanks for the help

                GX
