Upgrade from 1.2.1-2008-0727-1236 to 1.2.1-RC1-20080804-2206 failed
On an ALIX 2C3 board via ssh
fetch -o /tmp/firmware.tgz http://snapshots.pfsense.org/FreeBSD7/RELENG_1_2/pfSense-Embedded-Update-1.2.1-RC1-20080804-2206.tgz
sh /etc/rc.firmware pfSenseupgrade /tmp/firmware.tgz
Upon reboot, "failed to load kernel"
NOTE: I manually upgrade via ssh to ensure that the image is downloaded to /tmp instead of /root to avoid running out of space on my 256 MB compact flash.
We just need to remove the embedded updates so people stop trying this. Embedded updates are not supported, this has been mentioned many, many, many times on here. Those update files are strictly for any developers who are interested in attempting to resolve the problem.
Please read this tread a few threads down;
Console Upgrade from 1.2 Release Embeded -> 1.2.1 BETA Embeded [Now Working]
Try using the Full update file from the console? Does it work better on upgrades?
The answer is yes by the way!
You might as well stop compiling the embedded update files for a while until you get time to fix them because they just don't work.
