    I have recently discovered that when operating if Fail Over mode Roundcube authentication fails with a "gateway timeout".
    Everything on all servers is working as it should.
    The roundcube login screen appears but when you submit it eventually returns a gateway timeout.
    (this is only when running behind the pfSense backup firewall)

    Not sure if this is a pfSense issue or a Roundcube issue.

    Any advise on how to fix this is appreciated.

    Thankyou

    Glen

      Have you modified your outbound NAT to translate to the WAN CARP IP?

        @viragomann:

        Not sure what you are eluding to?
        The problem is on the backup firewall which mirrors the rules etc of primary.

        If for instance I put the primary FW in "persistent carp maintenance mode" the backup becomes master, as it should.
        The gateway timeout only occurs when the backup FW becomes the master and only after you click the login button.
        The roundcube login page comes up fine as it would normally but authentication times out.

          If you're not NATing to a CARP IP, your sessions will be lost on failover, which is why he asked.

          Other likely cause, if the server is pointing to the primary's IP rather than a CARP IP for its gateway.
