I installed the vmtools and the window has some commands for me to add into /etc/rc.conf so I went in to do so and I see the very first line of rc.conf says
# THIS FILE DOES NOTHING, DO NOT MAKE CONFIG CHANGES HERE
do they go elsewhere?
Just install the package , it will add everything
