      Hi - I have a pfsense supported e392 usb modem and it refuses to open up it's com ports to usb (cuaU0.0,cuaU0.1 etc) - What steps can I take to rectify this? How can I use usb_modeswitch?

      I have tried the command mentioned in the wiki to eject the cdrom device but this makes no difference.

      usbconfig -d ugen4.2 dump_device_desc
      ugen4.2: <huawei mobile="" huawei="" technologies="">at usbus4, cfg=0 md=HOST spd=HIGH (480Mbps) pwr=ON (500mA)

      bLength = 0x0012
        bDescriptorType = 0x0001
        bcdUSB = 0x0200
        bDeviceClass = 0x0000  <probed by="" interface="" class="">bDeviceSubClass = 0x0000
        bDeviceProtocol = 0x0000
        bMaxPacketSize0 = 0x0040
        idVendor = 0x12d1
        idProduct = 0x151a
        bcdDevice = 0x0000
        iManufacturer = 0x0003  <huawei technologies="">iProduct = 0x0002  <huawei mobile="">iSerialNumber = 0x0000  <no string="">bNumConfigurations = 0x0001</no></huawei></huawei></probed></huawei>

        What is the firmware version on your modem?
        In which mode are you going to use your modem - RAS or NDIS (means PPP or Network Card)?
        If you see no com port created in pfSense - plug your modem into any computer, make sure it's detected by the OS and check from any terminal emulator:

        AT^SETPORT?
