Adding m.SATA Storage
-
Hello,
I have recently come into possession of a SG-4860 running the latest version of pfSense on the embedded storage. A 60GB m.SATA card has been purchased and installed and the aim is to use this for squid caching and perhaps directing some logs or whatever else we feel might sit well on this extra drive. Unfortunately we are all rather new here to pfSense and FreeBSD and therefore are uncertain how best to go about this. Ideally we don't want to wipe the unit and start again so what is the best way to format and setup this drive?
Here is the disk information we have been able to gather -
[2.3.1-RELEASE][admin@pfSense.localdomain]/root: geom disk list Geom name: da0 Providers: 1\. Name: da0 Mediasize: 30601641984 (29G) Sectorsize: 512 Mode: r2w2e7 descr: Generic Ultra HS-COMBO ident: 000000225001 rotationrate: unknown fwsectors: 63 fwheads: 255 Geom name: ada0 Providers: 1\. Apologies if this is a completely noob question, we have searched and found a whole variety of possible answers with quite some variation between them so any guidance is much appreciated :)

OK I think we managed to get the disk added and formatted - it at least shows in the pfsense web dashboard and we could see in the mount list.
Only problem now is when the system is rebooted it hangs - if you serial in it gets to the 'Press F12' for boot menu prompt and if you don't do it then nothing happens. If you catch that in time you can tell it to boot, select boot device and it now shows this m.SATA as the first in the list which obviously we don't want.
Not sure how this is modified as again, we are new to FreeBSD/pfSense so would very much appreciate some guidance.

Hi ablct,
Are you able to get this issue resolved? We run into the same issue.
Thanks.
