      Hi,

I have a Netgate RCC-VE 2440 pfSense firewall. I tried upgrading the firmware from 2.2.6 to 2.3. It failed. I connected a USB cable, booted the box and got "can't find kernel." I'm happy to start over and reinstall from scratch but first I'd like to retrieve the configuration of the firewall. I inherited the firewall and prefer to not spend a ton of time figuring it out from scratch.

This page gives instructions on how to install from a thumb drive.

      https://netgate.com/docs/rcc-ve-2440/centos.html

But, I'd prefer to first boot from the thumb drive, retrieve the configuration, and then reinstall.

Is there a way to do that?

      Thanks.

You can use the rescue config option in the installer to do the reinstall and keep the config.
