DNS fails when WAN 1 goes down Multiwan Load balance Failover
-
Hi all,
I'm using pfsense v1.12
I have setup multi wan. When wan 1 goes down wan 2 takes over. But i have problems with the dns.
I can't resolv any website any more when wan 1 goes down.
I have put both dns wan 1 and wan 2 in the general tab dns box. I have put 2 internal Active Directory dns servers in the dhcp tab.
Can someone tell me what i need to do to let the other dns work?If i put wan 2 dns server in the dhcp server then it works. But i like to use my 2 internal AD cause they need to resolv windoze clients.

Try adding static routes for DNS servers
-
I have read that before. Can you tell me how to do that? I have absolutely no clue. Below system i went to static route and then?

Thank you,
So network will be the DNS ip from the isp? and gateway the wans gateway adress?
Do you have any more documentation? -
I have put those 2 routes into the table with my 2 isp gateways as destination.
I also put those 2 dns servers in the general tab.
I put my 2 internal dns servers for local resources in the DHCP tab.
I enabled the DNS forwarder.
I put my pfsense ip adress in the dns forwarder of my 2 internal dns servers. Now it works!
THANKS PERRY!!
