This morning we noticed quite a slowdown and intermittent drops when accessing the internet.

Pings over the WAN seemed fine, but internet access was very flaky. In the logs we noticed the two errors below:

      pf_busy

PF was wedged/busy and has been reset.	@ 2016-08-31 08:45:46
      Filter Reload

There were error(s) loading the rules: pfctl: DIOCXCOMMIT: Device busy - The line in question reads [0]: @ 2016-08-31 08:45:47

Box is a Supermicro SuperServer 5018A-FTN4 but with a C2558 quad core CPU.

Any ideas why the error might have occurred and whether it coudl be related to the described issue?

We are receiveing the same error after the 25th interface gets enabled.
If we disable it, it's ok.
If we enable it (no rules but bogus) the message comes up again.
