      The book is a living document now, under constant editing, available as a part of a Gold Subscription.

      At the moment it is still undergoing conversion for 2.3 but is mostly done.

      There are no current plans for a print version or sales of just the book on its own at this time, but if that changes we'll make an announcement.

        I see the book on sale now is from 2009. Is that in any way useful, or completely outdated? I'm quite familiar with Linux, but not with FreeBSD and pfSense is new to me.

          Depends on what you look for in the book, but most of the content is outdated.
          Better sources:
          -> https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Main_Page
          -> the new pdf / online book (requires subscription)
