Are Ethernet adapters are RealTek 8111-series recognised by pfsense?

        8111G working here.

        The re driver supports RealTek RTL8139C+, RTL8169, RTL816xS, RTL811xS,
RTL8168, RTL810xE and RTL8111 based Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet
            adapters including:

I gloomily came to the ironic conclusion that if you take a highly intelligent person and give them the best possible, elite education, then you will most likely wind up with an academic who is completely impervious to reality.

They should work but realtek has a bad habit of revising their hardware without telling anyone else. If the adapter is one of the newest of the newest from realtek there is a small chance that it doesn't work, anything older is well supported.

Thanks, but in which way in the past Realtek changed its products?

Like releasing a new version that has a different PCI-ID such that the driver no longer recognises it. But still labelling it RTL8111 so you can't tell from the motherboard specs for example.

I think there have also been instances of new firmware versions on the RTL8111 that caused the driver to bork even though the PCI IDs matched and it did attempt to attach.

The issue there is that often there's no way to tell until you actually have the hardware.

                I want to buy https://www.amazon.co.uk/Braswell-Celeron-Quad-Core-Fanless/dp/B01GBHCS5U/ref=pd_sim_sbs_107_8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=ZM8SF13CTHNN2D9M0YK1

It uses a realtek Ethernet, but a reviewer has put pfsense on it.

Almost certainly fine then. That review is recent it's hard to imagine anything has changed in that time.

But it still might have.  ;)
