Cannot access WAN net
-
Hi all,
I have a pfsense installation, 2.3.2-RELEASE-p1 (amd64), inside a Xenserver. Things are working fine, i have an internet connection, have automatic NAT, and even configured OpenVPN. However, my problem is I can't access a webserver in our WAN network when using pfsense as the LAN's gateway. I can ping the webserver from the pfsense gui and even test its port.
Have anyone experienced this?
Thanks in advanced!

so you have this?
internet – router - wan network -- pfsense - lan network
What is your network on your wan? What is your ntework on your lan? You sure your natting to pfsense wan IP? Is so then there should be no issue with talking to anything on your wan network.. It would look like to that webserver you were just on the wan network same as him.
My guess is you have some sort of overlap in your wan network and your lan network.

Hi johnpoz,
Thank you for answering. Yes, basically, that is how my pfsense is setup. whatismyip shows my pfsense's wan ip. How do i check the overlapping of the networks?

whats my ip would so you your public IP for the internet, it might not show you whats on your wan of pfsense?
Dude what are you trying to talk to?? Something on your wan network, or something on the internet.. What does pfsense show you for your IPs? do you have 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x ??
see example of mine.. What is the mask of these networks? Go to your interfaces page.. What is the IP address of this webserver your trying to access on your WAN net??

Hi Johnpoz,
Sorry, forgot to give my network. Wan is 122.x.x.x/27 and LAN is 172.x.x.x/22. I also have internet access on my LAN. whatsmyip shows my pfsense's WAN address.
I'm trying to talk to a webserver in my WAN network. IP add of that webserver is on the same network as my pfsense's WAN.
I thinking that it must be the rules or nat because when I ran Diagnostics > Test port, it shows web port is accessible.
Thanks!

Hi Johnpoz,
Forgot to mention that this pfsense is a VM on a xenserver host.
Regards. Thanks.
