    Hello!

I've a clean install on a Acer Aspire One, using the build in ethernet port and a AX88772B USB dongle.
I've set the pfSense to use DHCP on LAN and use 10.0.0.1 as default IP.

The problem I'm having is, that I can ping hosts fine eg. google.com, facebook.com and get the correct IP and response back.
But when I try to browse the web, it just loads forever.

I've even tried using wget to download a webpage, but it doesn't seem like it can connect.

The weird thing is, that if I use a AX88178 dongle, it works fine? But that just doesn't make sense to me, since I can ping hosts just fine…

USB NICs are not the greatest under FreeBSD and hence pfSense.

If you can ping by URL (DNS is resolving) but not browse you might have an issue with TCP hardware off loading in the USB NIC or possible an MTU issue.

Try pinging with larger packets to check they can pass. Make sure you have disabled ALL hardware offloading options in System > Advanced, Networking tab.

Ultimately though the NIC may just not be compatible with the driver.

      Steve

I agree that USB NICs aren't good to use with pfSense, I would never use it in anything important. But I'm currently checking my options for having a cheap pfSense router other than min IBM T43. And a old Acer Aspire One, with a USB NIC would be the cheapest way for me to get a OK pfSense router for home use :)

        I'll try tomorrow! Thanks! :)
