Startup and Shutdown
-
Hi,
Is it normal for startup to hang waiting for the F1 key to be depressed? Or did I do something wrong during my install? If it is normal, is there a way that I can avoid the keypress (something that I can do now, or during a reinstall)?Another question, is there any documentation about the syscalls (system calls)? I can find a table, but it does not really say what the different parameter values should be. I am just looking for a document or a book. I would be willing to buy a book, if needed (Ideally it would also cover Linux syscalls, but not required).
I am asking because…
I am attempting to automate startup and shutdown... so it will come up and down almost as if it were an appliance. Shutdown I think that I can do if I can figure out the syscall issue, with a simple assembler program (a little electronics to hold the power up for a minute after power is cut, and issue the shutdown -p now through syscall 134... very old dumb ups, but can hold it for a minute or ten). Startup I can do if I can avoid the F1 keystoke.Thanks.
