      Just received my SG-1000 microFirewall.

Being prudent, first thing I am trying to do is fully understand how to reset to factory settings and flash the firmware (so when I need to do it in the future, I will know how.)

The online docs for factory reset of Netgate devices is generic - not specific to the SG-1000 model.  They reference a small hardware reset switch that should be pressed with a toothpick.

I cannot find any hardware reset on the SG-1000.  Is this inside (and thus I need to remove the cover), or is there some other factory reset method for this device?

There is a pinhole right beside the power connector.  Is that not it?

I think that is only the power LED. There are some headers on the board that I haven't found any information about yet though…

Sorry, I misread your request and thought you were looking for a hard reset button.  I would doubt that this unit comes with backup firmware or a default image you can restore on demand, but I have been wrong once or twice before in my life.

Did I read somewhere that the hardware is also "open sourced"?  If so, is there a URL link for the schematic or design of the board?  That might be useful.

I thought there is a firmware reload utility listed in the online docs, but I'll have to re-check that.

EDIT:  Yup, open source but files not posted yet:

"The schematics and board design files for the hardware contained in the SG-1000 will be made available by the end of 2016 under a Creative Commons BY-SA 3.0 license. pfSense software is Open Source and can be viewed at https://github.com/pfsense"

There isn't a hard reset button on it

OK…I know this is not possible, but I have somehow fudged up my brand new SG-1000. I think I did not pay attention to the DHCP server range and LAN addresses...and may have configured them to be on separate ranges. Ugh I know.

Now I cannot get a DHCP address to a computer on the LAN and a static address doesn't seem to work.

How can I reset the device to factory defaults.

                  :-(
