I'd like to be able to use the web interface by going to the hostname of my pfSense router but am unable to.

I am in subnet 172.20.20.1/24. If I go to 172.20.20.1 I can access the web interface. However if I go to the hostname of my router 'pfsense.my.domain', I am unable to access it. 'pfsense.my.domain' is going to another subnet with interface OPT1 '172.20.10.1'

I used to be able to access the interface from my subject but since I removed an interface 'LAN' and replaced it with the interface 'OPT1' I stopped being able to access the web interface by its hostname. Everything else is identical to how it was with the LAN interface.

I have firewall rules set to any any. I want to be able to access it by the hostname because I have an https certificate that will only work by his host name, not it's ip.

And what IP does your pfsense.my.domain resolve too?  It resolves to 172.20.10.1? ??

So create your rule on our 172.20.20 to allow access to 172.20.10.1 on the port your running your webgui.

Your saying you have any rules on 172.20.20 interface?  This is where the traffic first enters pfsense.. Can you access the gui from the 172.20.10 network?

The domain resolves to 172.20.10.1. Shouldn't my any any rule cover that?

On my interface I set the rule the same as the default rule:

        Rules (Drag to Change Order)
States	Protocol	Source	Port	Destination	Port	Gateway	Queue	Schedule	Description	Actions
        		11/401.88 MiB
        IPv4 *	OPT2 net	*	*	*	*	none Default allow OPT2 IPv4/6to any rule

What desides what the hostname resolves to anyway? Why 172.20.10.1 when I never specified?
