Having an issue with my NAS WD myCloud since installing pfSense.  I have a 3 TB WD NAS on my network, ethernet connected.  I used this drive as a Time Window backup to my MAC desktop.  I can see  the NAS on the network and the files.  However I cannot access the backups from Time Machine are perform a "restore" function.  Anti Virus and VPN are disengaged. On the other hand, I can do a backup to a USB drive directly from the MAC.  Is there some setting, or port enablement that needs to be addressed in pfSense to recognize this backup? TIA

No, there are no settings on pfSense for Time Machine. If the NAS is on a different subnet than your desktop, perhaps install Avahi. If it's on the same subnet, pfSense is not involved at all here.

I'm not quite sure what is happening, but I can ping the NAS drive and access it via my desktop.  However when I try to do a backup, Time Machine hangs up and says there's a network issue.  I have the NAS set to a static ip.  Something is blocking the ability for TM to write to the drive.  Yet I'm able to do so with a usb connected drive, obviously not going through my server??

Are these two devices on the same subnet or not?

Time Machine uses Apple File Protocol & Bonjour AKA mDNS in finder is the name changing of your TM drive i.e. Backup Drive (2) ?

Maybe try deleting the password that would be stored in the Keychain on the Mac for the drive.

I had a WD my Cloud a few years ago and to be honest I wasn't too impressed.

I use Carbon Copy Cloner with a directly attacked drive that I swap monthly and I also backup to a Time-Capsule via Time Machine with no issues.
