Why is this? What would we then use for our fireboxes?

2.3.3 will be maintained longer for 32bit installs.
Those devices will not stop working when a new version comes out, you know. Just continue to use them the way they are. Or buy new hardware.

Sounds like a major change to me. Can we read more about what is all going to be different from 2.4 and upwards? No more 32bit embedded images, or no more 32bit releases whatsoever? Only 64bit, and will there still be 64bit embedded images with serial console or do we need devices with vga console?

Do the pfsense "gods" :) already made final decisions about how things are going te be like from 2.4 and on?

                    Watchguard?

Id dont believe Watchguard has built a 32bit i386 device in more than 5 years..  they are all EOL and most have been in operation over 10 years by now.

Look for some WG xtm5 series boxes on ebay or even better budget for some new hardware such as at the pfSense store.

                    Triggering snowflakes one by one..

Look here for the information about 32-bit i386 and nanoBSD not happening for 2.4:
