In the (very good!) quickstart http://diskatel.narod.ru/sgquick.htm I read that with squid in transparent mode only common access (default page) and not the ACL worked with ip-adresses. So I configured my proxy server for the first time to test the ACL. This worked perfect, but due to the proxy server every new webpage (not in the squid cache) was loading very slow. After loading a domain however the surfing went very fast. So I switched on transparent mode again on the proxy server, saved, and also saved an applied squidguard, just to be sure. Now my internet connection was very fast agian, and above… the ACL's that I programmed worked perfect!

My questions: Does the quickstart as I pointed to needs an update? Second: Is it normal that my proxy server is very slow on loading pages (about 6 seconds before a new page loads)? My Pfsense Is an Intel E2200 Dual Core, 1 Gb DDRII-667, 80 Gb SATA harddisk and of course two original Intel 1000GT nic's.

Thanks for your reaction, dvserg. your sqcuick was very usefull to get squidquard on the road. I'll get back to you with some more tests & results.  Do you have any ideas of the course of the slow reacting squid on websites that are not cached (when not in transparent mode)? The hardware should be fast enough (3 users).

As promised hereby the things I discovered on your Quick Start squidguard http://diskatel.narod.ru/sgquick.htm. I hope they're usefull:

General Settings: on an Intel E2200 with 1 Gb ram: rebuilding blacklist (shallalist) costs about 20 seconds.

The way I got squidguard to work I had to fill in at least one destination. By skipping this squidguard wouldn't work.

With transparant proxy you can use ACL with IP-adresses perfectly. To use ACL with usernames you have to switch transparent proxy off.
