I'm looking at the status / traffic graph and I'm confused about the definition of Bandwidth In & Bandwidth Out. Are in and out from the perspective of "sitting inside pfSense"?

So for interface set to LAN, filter set to local, bandwidth out would measure traffic going to my local lan from the internet (in the case of just a simple WAN/LAN)

The opposite would be true for WAN (IN is traffic coming FROM the internet)

      Thx

I believe so, yes.  Data as it is coming into the box and data as it is going out of the box.  So if you are in the network viewing the WAN, IN is download and OUT is upload.  However, on the LAN, IN is Upload and OUT is download.

It's always in the context of the interface itself.  In means receive, Out means send.  Traffic comes in from the WAN and then gets sent out to the LAN.
