I see there there are multiple packages for 1.2 that exist on BSD 6.2/6.3/7.0
    Are they all considered stable?

1.2-Release is based on FreeBSD 6.2

Various 1.2 snapshots may be based on 6.2 or 6.3

      1.2.1-BETA and 1.3-ALPHA are based on 7.0

Only 1.2-Release is what I would consider a stable release (though 1.2.1 and the 1.2 snapshots may be stable enough for you).
