What is advised to use (python or perl) for a custom script to run on pfSense?

Or can I use a simple shell script an curl?

I'd go with a shell script.

What are you trying to do?

Yes, it seems the best way.

I do a curl on an IP to get some info, use sed to remove the unwanted part and create a json from it which will be sent to another server  ;)
