Internet connectivity drops at least daily
-
Background:
Running 2.3.3 on a Mac Pro with Esxi
Technicolor 8305 All in one cable modem
Modem is bridged modeI'm running basically default settings on PfSense and have noticed the issue of the internet dropping at least once a day. In order to get it back up I need to reboot my modem and pfsense. This did not occur with my Archer C2 router.
Things I've tried:
Disable IPV6 on WAN
Disable gateway monitoring
Changed payload size from 0 to 1System logs don't give me anything useful, and Gateway logs are sometimes inaccessible during the outage. I'll try to grab the gateway logs via ssh.
Some ideas would be greatly appreciated. My wife would appreciate it ;)

Hi,
have you identified any pattern when these drops occur? This might be related to what I experienced, i.e. an expiring lease on WAN due to a DHCP which only answers to broadcasts. Might be worth to take a look at your DHCP client log.

I can't really put my finger on a pattern of the drops. It seems to happen overnight more than not. I'll check out that link.

Are you still using the Archer C2? If so are you using it as an AP only?
Have you set pfSense up to email you notifications when things go wrong? If not give that a shot, it might point you in the right direction.

Have you verified that your cable provider isn't doing some night time maintenance? What do the cable modem logs show?
