Installation Hangs
-
Installation of pfSense onto my Intel D201GLY motherboard is hanging during installation to hard disk.
In Version 1.2 it hangs at 41%
In Version 1.2.1 it hangs at 43%The CD version boots fine, I don't notice any errors on console, but it refuses to install to disk.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,Travis

As an update, I was using a DOM (Disk On Module), which gave the results above. However, when using a full blown 3.5" hard drive, the installation errors out with Exit status: 139 when trying to cpdup /dev.
I've tried two different CDs to no avail.

If you don't manage to install on the hdu, you might try to modify the default configuration on the "Live CD" and run using only the CD.
This is the only setup that worked in my case, and after several attempts I managed to generate a modified "live CD" with a customized config.xml. This way my firewall needs no other mass-storage device but the CD.
In case you are interested in it, please post a request and I will describe the steps that worked for me. -

I assume that once I have the desired config.xml file I want pfsense to use, I would mount the iso image and copy my config.xml and overwrite the cdrom/conf.default/config.xml file. Is this correct? Are there any "checksums" that have to be recalculated? If not I assume then I would save the modified iso file and burn it. Am I correct or am I missing something? Thanks for your time in advance.

Probably solved but…
It happened to me several times. It had to do with my DVD drive. If you burn and install with the "same drive" your problems "should" go away. It worked for me, after several hangs I tryied the drive witch I used to burn the cd and the problem went away. If you still have problems installing try to burn the cd with low speed settings.
Hope it helps someone
