Is embedded install missing drivers?

  • Hi guys,

I have a problem getting the embedded kernel full installation version of pfSense to run on an Seagate ST1 Microdrive.
After installing the serial bootblock with```
    boot0cfg -B -o nopacket,noupdate -b /boot/boot0sio -s 1 -t 1 da1

    Best regards,
    Marcus

  • The embedded version is in no way different from the full version
except: no data will be saved to the disk (i.e you cannot install packages, RRD graphs wont be stored to the disk (will be written only on shutdown/reboot), etc.)

To your problem: Search the forum for "seagate".
cheesyboofs posted some infos to these drives.
It seems you dont have much luck with such a drive. Hitachis should be better.

Just for the records, actually graphs will be stored if you shutdown/reboot cleanly and kept for the next boot. At least on the 1.2.1 I am using.

They're stored in memory in the meanwhile though, so if you just plug off the power cord they won't be retained.
