      Hi,

in 99% of cases the captive portal works as desired. But for some clients the portal just won't show. I always tell these people to open http://ipofourpfsense:8002/index.php?zone=ourzone

These people are not IT people and I want to make the process easier for them.

Basically I want guests.com to resolve to http://ipofourpfsense:8002/index.php?zone=ourzone

I have DNS resolver running but I can only override to ips, not urls. What can I do here?

Perhaps a local web server (off the firewall) that can handle a URL redirect. It's fairly easy to do such things with mod_rewrite on Apache or other similar mechanisms in other web servers or even scripting languages.

Not sure how does it matter? If they type http://guest.com in the browser, they'll get redirected to the CP login page as long as it resolves to something.

That should be sufficient, so long as it is a valid http site they attempt to fetch first.
