      So, in going through the standard install process on this mulit-core computer I am never prompted to use the multi-processing kernel.  I just get the option for the standard kernel.  I have tried both Quick/Easy install as well as the Custom.

      Any ideas?

      Thanks much!

        @cmb:

        The options in 2.1.5 are labeled "Standard Kernel" and "Embedded kernel (no VGA console, keyboard)". That's about as clear as it can be I'd say.

        There hasn't been any explicit mention of SMP in a while, as all kernels have had SMP the last few releases.

          Thank you.  I have determined that the YouTube video I was referencing was for an earlier version before what you have advised me was true.  I have now located a more up to date intstall video.

          Thanks again for the reply, I appreciate taking the time to help me out.  I am very new to pfSense, learning as much as possible in the last 48 hours.  My 2nd NIC card will be here tomorrow so I plan to go live shortly thereafter.
