Hello guys, I've tried to find a solution, but I've failed!

I'm working in a small company that does not use ethernet cables, only wifi for desktops, printers and a small server with vmware running pfSense, that will be deactivated to save some money with the air conditioner. The structure today is: a modem (Internet provider) connected to pfSense server and into Time Capsule through cable, then the Time Capsule and a Airport Express distribute the internet through all devices, pcs and printers by wifi.

Today basically we use pfSense to run some reports and control the access to the corporate wifi connection by MAC address.

Now the question: Is there a way to configure vm in a normal desktop with wifi connection (not cable or modem direct connect) to run pfSense in this wifi network to continue running these reports and controlling access by MAC address?

    Thank you.

      Short answer: No

Longer answer maybe if you setup something complex but in reality it will cause you way more trouble than it's worth.

Is there some reason you don't use cables?  :-\

"that will be deactivated to save some money with the air conditioner."

          What??

Sure you can run pfsense on a normal desktop hardware via VM..  Why would you not run wire to your modem, and then to your AP(s)?

Mmm, I'm not sure just how much money can be saved by turning off the VM host. If that's the budget you have to work with though your options are clearly very limited.

We might be able to suggest something if we had all the details.
