      Apparently, I'm too dumb to install pfSense.

      I downloaded the 64-bit "memstick installer" gzip file and created a bootable USB flash drive, as per the instructions.

      It boots from the USB flash drive.

      From there, the installation instructions on the pfSense site don't match what I see on the screen.

      I tried typing the letter "i" and "99" per the instructions.

      None of that works.

      I see this (attached image).  No matter what I type (I, 99, whatever)… I don't see an option to install pfSense.

      What am I doing wrong?

        @pfBasic:

        I'm pretty sure it's just option (1) Boot to Multi User and it goes from there.

        Does this not work?

          Apparently, I just wasn't being patient enough.  It takes that thing FOREVER to boot from the thumb drive!

            That sounds like an issue with the thumb drive or something else.

            It takes less than 5 minutes for me to do an entire fresh install from a thumb drive.

              I don't know.  It's the first time I've used this particular flash drive.

              I brought it in to work and just let it sit there for about 10 minutes after I pressed Enter to select option 1.  I installed pfSense with no problems.  It boots fine from the SSD now.  I'll play with it at home when I have time.

              Thanks for your help.
