Add Description to DHCP Non-Static Leases?
-
Is there any way to add a Description to the non-static leases in the DHCP Server? No problem with static leases, but can't find a way with dynamic leases.

Given that you will have no idea about which computer gets what address, why even bother. With static leases, an IP address is tied to a specific MAC, so you know what device is going to get that address and son you can create a description for it.

I was hoping that the DHCP Server would tie the Description field to the MAC Address. Oh, well. If it can't be done, it can't be done. It sure would be nice, though (all these phones and no human readable way to figure out which one is which).

"(all these phones and no human readable way to figure out which one is which)."
Sure there is - create a reservation for them, then put in what description you want ;)

It's probably not what you're after exactly, but you can setup a DHCP static mapping with a blank IP address. It will show the MAC address and your description in the leases view, but it doesn't combine that entry with the client's real lease entry from the list. So it's not quite so useful.
I'd just setup static mappings for all the phones. You're doing almost all the work anyhow, may as well pin them down the rest of the way.

@jimp , it's not work if you have more than one networks (vlan)
i have Guest and i have Main (and more others) Wi-Fi SSID (VLAN)
if i make static IP with blank IP and description and connect after that to other network, i got IP from other range DHCP, so description with static IP stay on other DHPC leease (vlan) and in new i don get description....i have number of phones and more devices for teting purpose moved from one vlan to other....
