The current version is 1.7.8. Run

        pkg update -f

to get the pkg junk back to reality.

Well, if pkg segfaults for you, you'd better do a hardware check and fresh install.

(You can use pkg-static but that's obviously no solution here long term.)

Uhm… stuff crashing in vmware does not mean there's no HW error on the hypervisor itself. Anyway, this has nothing to do with FreeRADIUS.

nothing crashed and no hw error:

                  should i try this:

                  https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Fixing_a_Broken_pkg_Database

as i unterstood, i have a problem with the pkg manager?!

Nothing crashed?! You package manager is segfaulting, in case you have not noticed.

pkg update -f > ERROR: Child process pid=7504 terminated abnormally: Segmentation fault

You won't be able to upgrade/install anything with a crashing package manager. With this being a VM, I'd export the config and do a reinstall, instead of trying to hack around an already broken install.
