Run from USB Stick?
-
I tried to install pfsense on an USB stick, but without success. I only get a display of register contents and an BTX loader error. The hardware is able to boot. I know of other linux projects like gparted and clonezilla that have a convenient way to install and boot from USB stick. Anything like this would be nice to have for pfsense.
After this I also failed at running pfsense from a harddrive. The only thing displayed at boot time is a '/'. I tried the 1.2 version. The hardware is rather new stuff: Mainboard Gigabyte G31M-S2L (Intel G31 chipset with integrated graphics Intel GMA 3100, integrated Gigabit LAN RTL8111C). I had to go back to monowall which didnt have any problems except for not recognizing the integrated LAN. -
Once more, with feeling…
pfSense is based upon FreeBSD, not Linux. FreeBSD != Linux.
Please search the forum for booting from USB.

Why don't YOU shut the f*** up and learn how to search. Some people do get tired of spoon-feeding those who are too lazy to search and sometimes post terse replies, but acting like a jackass to someone who has helped out dozens of newbies is not the way to make a good impression.

Nobody is forced to answer or even read anything here. It is simple: If you dont want to say anything, shut up.
