PFsense Package
-
Hi guys, is there a way to check all the installed package that pfsense offered including packages from installation. I want to check pre installed packages like etc. if lighthttpd is running. ???

lighttpd is not installed in pfSense as a FreeBSD package or even as a pfSense package. However you can see if it is running by using the console or with SSH. Enable SSH under System -> Advanced -> Enable Secure Shell make sure the box is checked. Then you can log in with SSH.
When you get to the console menu.
Press 8 then EnterThen run the following:
ps -waux | grep lighttpdor just attempt to open pfSense web GUI if it opens then you know lighttpd is running.

thanks for the command sir mcrane.
sir mcrane.. is captive portal using lighthttpd? is posible to reinstall captive portal and lighthhtpd? -
pfSense GUI and Captive portal both use lighthhtpd. If you want to reinstall either one then you need do a reinstall or upgrade pfSense.
Instead of going to that extreme if your GUI is not responding you could SSH into it and then choose to restart the pfSense web configurator or try rebooting.
You might consider explaining the symptoms of what is happening on your system.

my system is running last time with captive portal, now captive portal doesn't block the user and redirect user to login page. then read an discussion here that it runs in lighthttpd as web server. so I want to look at lighthttpd if its running or not to isolate the problem. i have grep lighthttpd in console mode but i have not found that it is running. could my web server got messed up. pfsense version is 1.2

Have you tried to open pfSense from its admin GUI? If the regular GUI is working for pfSense then lighttpd is running.
