Chelsio T520-SO-CR Drivers?
-
Hello,
I recently built the equivalent to the pfSense XG-1541.
My Setup:
Supermicro SuperChassis SC505-203B
Supermicro X10SDV-8C-TLN4F
16GB Curcial ECC Ram
…..
.....I just purchased the Chelsio T520-SO-CR 10 GbE SPF+ adapter from the pfSenese store. My question is do I need to install the FreeBSD drivers provided by Chelsio or, is this simply a "plug and play" NIC? I think I need to install the drivers, but I hope I do not have to. The T520-SO-CR will be used for the LAN, connecting to a Cisco Switch.
Thanks in advance,
Josh -
it should be plug and play.

Not really, you did not run the ADI Image from Netgate and this is pre-tuned and so it might be much better
matching then the ordinary CE-pfSense Image.Supermicro SuperChassis SC505-203B
This is a 1U rack mount case and you might be thinking
about that you will be of the need of an additional 40 mm fan, to keep this card cool.Supermicro X10SDV-8C-TLN4F
Nice board, but please try out the following steps;
- install the latest BIOS for that Supermicro board
- install 64Bit amd pfSense image version 2.4 BETA (better ix driver)
- create the eth interfaces and a loader.conf.local and reboot
16GB Curcial ECC Ram
- Please set the mbuf size to 1000000
- Turn on the Hyper threading in the BIOS
- activate PowerD (high adaptive)
- Enable TRIM or install on ZFS and TRIM gets automatically enabled for mSATA, SSDs and M.2 SSDs

You will need an additional fan case for cooling that card perhaps! The driver should be inside of the pfSense OS.
