i am planning to use my old gateway gt5408. https://www.cnet.com/products/gateway-gt5408-core-2-duo-e4300-1-8-ghz-1-gb-320-gb/specs/only upgrade on it is i added either 1/2 a gig or 1 gig ram. i dont have enough ethernet ports on it so i have to get a NIC card, can anyone recomend a good NIC card for what i want to do.
id like to turn this pc into pfsence router, and have a built in vpn for whole network wired and wirless. my switch is unmaged and currently have my netgear wndr4500, as my AP, hooked directly to the switch. can i still have wirless vpn with this current config or would i need a 2 port NIC card, one port for my switch and the other for the AP
Can all of this be done using my old pc or is it not powerful enough?

- Intel i340-T2 or T4
- Intel i350-T2 or T4
- Intel 1000/Pro PT dual or quad port
But you might be also able to work with VLANs and less LAN ports too if you want! You may add a small 5 port or 8 port
Switch that is capable to manage and support VLANs, that's it. -
i already have a 24 port unmanaged switch that i just bought a few months ago, is there any way to still vpn the wifi using an unmanaged switch or will it work with my AP connected directly to the router.

VPN doesn't need a managed switch.
You only need a managed switch that supports VLANs if you want to do it all with only one NIC on your router.
