Problem with PFSense after latest update (looses connection)
-
I installed the latest update that was detected by the console, it was successfully installed but my internet connection keeps on loosing. I also cannot access my router through webGui, it says my router's address is unreachable. If I forcefully reboot the router (power it down by removing the power supply), then turn it on again, the router works and all connections to it seems good again but after an hour or two, all connection looses again. I don't know how to trouble shoot this at the moment, so I replaced my router with an old ASUS RT-N56. My pfsense box is a Zotac C1323 with 8GB RAM + 120GB SSD. It was running pfsense for more than a year now, I always install the latest update that flashes on the console without any trouble except this time. Please help me troubleshoot this. Thanks.

Hi,
Just an idea : setup the logger ( Status System Logs Settings) to an external log server so you can see up until which point all your interfaces are going down - or the unit becomes brain-dead.
Be sure that reflashing to the version before doesn't give you the same situation.

Sounds like what might happen with a duplicate IP address (the pfSense LAN address) on your LAN.
Look at the console while it's down. What do you see? Does it respond to input? Can you ping out WAN, etc?

It seems this is a good idea to troubleshoot the problem. I just don't know how to setup an external log server.
At the moment I will be setting up my network like this just to simulate it the problem keeps on coming on PC2 as well as the connected wireless device at UNIFI AP.MODEM–---->ASUS RT-N56(192.168.1.1)------>SWITCH1-------->(192.168.1.2)PFSENSE(10.10.10.1)-------->SWITCH2----->PC2
