I have a Win10 Home client on my network, set up with a static IP on the client.  I would like to add a Host Override to DNS Resolver for this client so that I can use the hostname to reach the client.  But Win10 Home doesn't allow for domain names to be set, and Resolver won't let me add host override without a domain name.  Is there any other solution so that I can use the hostname rather than IP to access this client??

"Win10 Home doesn't allow for domain names to be se"

Utter nonsense…  And doesn't matter what the win10 box thinks its domain is anyway... You could call it w10.google.com if you wanted for your host override..  Its just a name you want to use to access it..

Your thinking Active Directory domain - sure win10 might not be able to join a AD, but that has zero to do with what its domain name is set to..

So do I understand then that in the Host Override section of Resolver, if I give it a Host name that I want to resolve to, and the IP address for that host, that the Domain i give it can be anything??  Newbie still trying to learn.

yes the domain you give it can be anything you want.  I use local.lan as my local domain.  This has nothing to do with AD.. My windows machines are not members of domains.  But this is the domain name they have set in their full computer name..

I don't have a win10 machine handy.. But this really has not changed between windows versions..

What I am here for ;)  So can you not resolve your machine by its fully qualified name.  Did you get your host override setup?

Setup and working fine!  Now, if I can just figure out how to set FQDN for my RPi's, I'm golden!
