      Hi!

So I have got my hands on a a 1U server. Containing the following hardware

      Supermicro X8SIL motherboard
one i3-530 2.93 Ghz Dualcore cpu
      3Ware 9650SE-2LP SATA RAID controller

It has one chassi fan, that blows on the CPU. And a fan in the PSU.

      Its very loud :o

The temp stays around 35-37 degrees C under idle load. Haven´t tested it under load.

But can you guys give me some advice on fans that might fit my chassi? Im thinkning that 10-15% increase in temp won't be a problem (am I right?).

The current fans looks like this http://imgur.com/a/AJb14

I have seen that noucta is very popular.

Any good radial fans that is quiet?

I would look at these. http://noctua.at/en/products/fan/nf-a4x20-flx there are a few options at this size, like pwm, 3-pin ….etc

as proof they work here is a install video I found. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW87duasx7E

and for the blower style fan for the cpu, you might try this…https://www.amazon.com/Dyantron%C2%AE-CF-003-Crossflow-Servers-Enclosures/dp/B009SEN4Q6

might require some modding, and 33 dba isn't exactly quiet it might be less noisy then what you have.

        Hope this helps.

To make a 1U Supermicro chassis quieter without the use of the stock (loud) radial fan,
and have enough cooling (m³ air / hour airflow) you have 2 options.

          Option 1) Use 40x40x20mm Fan(s) from Sunon, partnr KD1204PKS2 , these have a flow of 13m³/hour @ 21dBA
these are the quietest in 40x40x20mm dimensions you can find (i use these all the time in 1U firewalls).
This type has no RPM reading (no yellow wire) and will always run at maximum.
This type can be found in every electronic parts store or online and is cheap and good.

          or

          Option 2) Use Cooljag DEN-7 1U CPU Cooler #JACLL03C-0
          https://www.coolerguys.com/collections/intel-lga-1150-1151-1155-1156/products/cooljag-den-7-1u-cpu-cooler-jacll03c-0
at lowest RPM setting in combination with the Sunon fan(s).
The cooljag is more expensive, because this type comes with a copper heatsink.
