Rc.linkup: Hotplug event detected for LAN(lan) static IP
-
Hi All,
Greetings! I have encountered a problem where our LAN suddenly lost the connection to the pfsense, at first I have no idea what is going on then I restarted the pfsense and it returned to normal. Upon checking up on the pfsense log there are these lines in the log which I suspected is the cause of the lost connectivity to our LAN. Attach here is just part of the log that I saw (the rest omitted since they are repetitive) :01/07/2014 14:06 php-fpm 36071 /rc.newwanip: rc.newwanip: on (IP address: 192.168.0.1) (interface: LAN[lan]) (real interface: igb1).

01/07/2014 14:02 kernel igb1: link state changed to DOWNI have actually browsed through many post on this "Hotplug event detected" but there isn't an answer that I'm looking for. From the above log the link for igb1 (which is our LAN) keeps become DOWN and UP. What would be the cause of creating hotplug in pfsense? Is it possible that there's a IP conflict? Anyone else has encountered this issue before?
Your feedback is really appreciated.
Thanks a lot. -
Is this a USB to LAN network adapter?
What would be the cause of creating hotplug in pfsense?
in Normal this indicates that the connection is lost because the cable or link is not present there, something likes
someone is pulling the LAN cable out. It can be also dust inside the jack or plug of the card and the contacts will
be not really closed together or a broken and LAN cable or wire will be getting contact and loose it then again.
Also a speed auto negotiation miss match can be there, have a look on that. Some cable have some clips
that they will not be pulled or slip out by semthelfIs it possible that there's a IP conflict?
If it will be a static one, it could be based on a typo also from the DHCP server IP range and this will then end
up in a network loop, or will be rejected by the pfSense system.Anyone else has encountered this issue before?
All written above, but mostly together with an USB to LAN adapter.
