      Hi There,

I was testing install pfsense v2.3.4 so I have interface and configuration below:

      1. set wan 10.10.10.254/24
      2. set lan 10.30.1.1/24
      3. set vlan 40 on interface lan 10.40.1.1/24
      4. set dhcp server vlan 40 rage 10.40.1.1-10.40.1.254

      pf (lan)–--> zyxel switch
                            |---(port1) set trunk, tagged (connected to pf lan interface)
                            |---(port2) set untagged ---> notebook plugged (obtain ip)

The problem is notebook cannot get an ip from vlan 40 what wrong in my pf configs. if this's ok I will set access point instead it.

      Anyone can help me...

      Thanks in advance.

It will be an issue with the switch.

To prove it connect the notebook directly to the lan port and run up Wireshark.

I was tested connect to lan and set switch port 1 to disable trunk and set untagged then set dhcp from lan interface and connect notebook from port 2 on the switch it's work! but vlan didn't work.

          Thanks.

Connect the laptop running wireshark to the trunk port, if you see untagged and tagged packets it won't be an issue with pfsense.

You might be better posting on the zyxel support forum.

I'm guessing you've copied your firewall rules from the lan interface to the vlan interface and changed them to suit.

I'll post a couple of screenshots from my linksys switch later.

                Hi NogBadTheBad,

Thanks for your information. I forgot to inform you for my pf. My pf is running on vmware and now I was fixed this issue.
For my setting on my vm host I have cofigure vlans to an interface and enable "route based on the originating virtual port ID" also setting lan to vlan id to 4095 finally setting port switch to tagged.

                Thanks.
