Wireless AC Support (Please read before commenting)

I understand that many people suggest to use an external AP for wireless, i agree and i already do this…. unfortunately only wireless n

But I have recently migrated my PfSense hardware to a system very similar to the SG-2440, but has an integrated wireless AC card.
I wanted to use this as a guest wifi, not as my main wireless.... there is no need for another external access point for the guest when it wont be used that much..

So the usual spiel of using external AP, isn't the fix for me in this scenario.. Now i also understand that there is limited support on FreeBSD for wireless AC...

Where would one got to try to fix a fix to this? As my current wireless AC that is built in currently is detected as non2@pci:0 blah blah

Just use a decent external AP that can do VLANs and multiple SSIDs and you're done.
My personal recommendation for APs would be Ruckus 7372/7982 from eBay and such (but those aren't AC either).
New: Xclaimwireless.com (=Ruckus) or UniFi (AC available)

I also suggest getting a UniFi WAP, the AC PRO has just a software toggle switch for a separate guest network.

Run

pciconf -lv

See what the PCI device and vendor IDs are. Look those up to find out what chipset you have. Google that with FreeBSD to see if there's a driver.

If it's recent it might have some support in FreeBSD11/pfSense 2.4. Try a snapshot.

Does this support guest?? Ie vlans? What are you currently running for your external AP? How many do you have?

If what you want is guest or multiple wifi networks that you can segment then yes get a external AP that supports vlans is what your after.. Why not take the opportunity to update your current external AP that only does N to something that does AC, shoot for that matter AC wave 2 ;)
