      Hi everyone,

This is more of a solution than a problem. If you own an Amazon Echo with any of the following symptoms:
      1. Alexa App thinks that you are running a captive portal and says it needs to open a page in order to connect and then doesn't connect at all.
      2. You get Connection error 7 (not 7.x.x.x.x) just 7
      3. Echo only connects via PC and setting a static IP under advanced options
      4. Echo keeps on disconnecting

To solve this I had to ensure snort wasn't blocking the Echo traffic (which in my case it happily did)
Add the IP of the Echo to the proxy bypass list if you are running a transparent proxy. This is what caused all my grief. Once I did this it just worked and has not disconnected since.

      Hope this helps someone else.
