        What are you using for vm host? Esxi what?  Been running pfsense on vm for years.. If your os supports the version of freebsd its no different then setting that up for the vm settings.

          I never thought I would have so much trouble understanding this pfsense.

          After USB install to a internal drive.
          I can use my browser to get to the machine through WAN/dhcp.
          I simply tell the machine there is a LAN NIC I loose connectivity to WebGUI.

          Im so confused after 24hours of this and that re-installing….

            well once you tell it there is a lan, it will disable access via its "wan"

            Create the vm with both nics at first, and access the gui via its "lan" interface to finish the setup..

              @Cyberben:

              I can use my browser to get to the machine through WAN/dhcp.

              When you setup a router / firewall device, you hook yourself up for initial setup using a local serial port (could be a serial over USB), or a dedicated NIC, or, by default, the future LAN NIC.
              Never ever the future WAN port.
              That goes for pfSense and any other device on this planet.

              Knowing this, you will find this :
